Nokia N900 launching in India at a Price of Rs.30639

on June 4, 2010 – 10:14 am32 Comments

We are here in Noida, Delhi for the Nokia N900 India launch. Nokia has annouced the MRP ( Maximum Retail Price ) of this Maemo Handset. It will be available starting this June for Rs.30639. It’s looking like the device will ship with the recently released PR1.2 Firmware in India

What do you think about the pricing ?

We feel it’s expensive for sure. But considering this is a MRP. Expect the phone to be available for a slightly lesser price.

    Awww … sligtly pricey …

My only concern is whether to wait for samsung galaxy S as it would be having a 4″ screen.

I know most of the plus and minus of n900. No issue with them at all.

Concern is whether samsung will release their mobile in competitive price or 33+ range.

    Hmmm …

  • Mohsin

    That’s good news !!!

I think in market we will get it for 29K.

I want to know about the features of this phone. Will it be able to compete with the iphones and apple phones??? And the price I think is too high. Will it lessen up?? Thanks.

A pricing of around 24k would be a killer deal and i expect the price to come down to that point pretty soon (typical nokia ;) )

Pls do not fall for the phones hardware specs, read through this forum posts for potential issues so that you arent disappointed by the purchase.

In simple words, maemo lacks most of the common smartphone features such as
    - 3G video calling
    - Call duration timers
    - Limited portrait mode
    - UI not consistent
    - Battery draining
    - No OVI music support, PC Suite, Voice navigation. Only OVI maps but limited features and it sucks
    - Issues with Exchange mail, synching contacts and calendar.
    - Issues with Media player, doesnt play DRM, Doesnt allow to add custom playlists, can sync with OVI music.
    - Limited apps in Ovi store
    - Cant add contacts to SIM
    - No portrait virtual Key board
    - No contact based ringtones
List goes on & On. So be sure before you spend your money

I have an N900 here in Italy. Believe me guys, this is the real deal. This is first a mobile computer. The phone function is actually an afterthought by Nokia. Also, since it is running on Linux it’s immune to most virus. But in India if we don’t get a half decent 3G network, we can’t do justice to this phone.

This provides a total of 1 GB of virtual memory to store our important data without any other memory card. The 5 megapixel back camera has an auto focus feature with dual LED flash. Call quality was pretty good and the phone functionality is pretty simple and easy to use.

Nokia N900 has a 5 mega pixel camera with 3x zooming power. So there is no doubt about its picture quality. You must feel a new photography experience with Nokia N900.
