Airtel appoints Huawei to supply, manage 4G LTE network in Karnataka


Bharti Airtel has selected Huawei to plan, design, supply and deploy its 4G TD-LTE network in Karnataka. The 4G LTE subscribers can experience high speed wireless internet access that can support bandwidth intensive applications, support video streaming and high-definition video conferencing. Airtel won BWA license spectrum in Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) circles in 2010. They launched 4G LTE service in Kolkata last month after appointing ZTE to mange the 4G network. They plan to launch 4G LTE services in Karnataka soon.

Huawei has partnered with Bharti Airtel in Sri Lanka and part of Bangladesh and is also the 3G provider in the state of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It also plans to launch 4G services in Pune in Maharashtra and Chandigarh in Punjab.
