MIUI 10 will bring India-specific features including in-camera Paytm QR code scanning, Contextual Quick menu in Messaging and more


Xiaomi introduced the MIUI 10 globally at the Redmi Y2 launch event in India today. We already know that MIUI 10 includes performance improves, better full screen experience with gestures, better Recents, Nature sounds, Ambient noises and AI Portrait mode. As usual, the company announced new MIUI 10 features for the Indian users that includes option to scan Paytm QR codes directly in the Camera app, Progressive web app support, use quick menus in Messaging and option to listen to songs and videos in your native language in Mi Music and Mi Video.

The Camera app in MIUI 10 lets you scan Paytm QR codes to go directly to check out in the Paytm app.

SMS sender ID and Caller ID features are already available in MIUI.  SMS sender ID now has 65% Identify rate. MIUI 10 removes Reply Buttons for messages from Banks and instead it introduces Quick Menu lets you open specific websites, apps or find ATMs nearby in case of banks. This is contextual and varies depending on the sender. Quick menu is available for more than 100 services in India.

MIUI 10 now recognizes your train ticket SMS messagesand intelligently
turns them into simple cards with all the important information on it.

Progressive web apps in Mi Browser

Progressive web app support allows you to use web pages like Flipkart, OLA, OYO and other services just like you use apps without the need to download or install additional packages. This feature will also be available in Indonesia.

MIUI 10 Beta roll out begins from June 14th, and the stable roll out will start in September. You can check out the list of eligible devices here.
