on October 24, 2010 – 5:21 am5 Comments

Looks like Motorola has silently launched the Quench XT3 Android Phone in India. The phone is available at some stores between Rs.12000-14000It’s a touchscreen phone with a 3 MP Camera, microSD support,3.5mm audio jack. It supports 3G , WiFi, Bluetooth.

Bad news is that it runs on Android 1.6. If it only ran Android 2.1 or above , it would be a pretty good buy !

This is an OEM phone. I don’t want it. It’s not Motorola’s own. This is most def the gigabyte gsmart g1305.

And the custom spin on the interface is ugly. C’mon motorola, you have to try and regain your reputation, not try and lose it further.

I know it can be upgraded to Android 2.1. A very good buy.

Looks like it can be upgraded to Android 2.1.
In the homepage, there’s an option which says “upgrade it”. Does that mean, we can upgrade it ? – http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/XP-EN/Consumer-Products-and-Services/Mobile-Phones/MOTOROLA-QUENCH-with-MOTOBLUR-XP-EN?localeId=228

And also if you search the FAQ with “update” – It says it can be upgrade to Android 2.1 and camera can be upgraded to 5MP for free, but only in Singapore – https://motorola-global-en-aus.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/57230/kw/update/p/30%2C6720%2C7505

Does that mean, the update is not valid in India ?

Motorola India website makes no mention of it, but its listed for sale on flipkart.com

flipkart.com says that it comes with MotoBlur, but the corresponding product image they have shows something which is definitely not MotoBlur.

Whatever it is, I’m certain of one thing – this is not the way for a Big-5 company to launch a product. Nothing in the media, nothing on their website. Plus the websites selling the item have erroneous product information. Heck, even the Moto Starling got a proper mention on the company website!!

Oh, and one more thing – I’m pretty certain this is not motorola’s own engineering as this is essentially the same as gigabyte’s gsmart g1305.

I’m not taking it, not even if it were given to me free. I want Motorola, give me a proper Motorola, not Gigabyte hardware. I’ll pay good money for a proper motorola.

The above some of the cmments are not. In motorola India website the product details are available. This phone is Android OS 2.1 not Eclair, not 1.6 cupcake. This phone not having Motoblur.
