The phone packs a 5-inch HD display. There is a black border round the screen, which looks a bit weird. The phone is powered by a Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 Mobile Platform, similar to the Redmi 4A. Running on Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with MIUI 9 on top, it has a 5-megapixel camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. It doesn’t have backlit capacitive touch buttons, but there is a tiny notification LED below the home button that is hardly visible when it’s off.

The Indian version of the phone has dedicated dual SIM slots. There is a slot with a nano SIM and microSD and another secondary nano SIM slot. Xiaomi also doesn’t miss the Infrared sensor for remote control even on this budget smartphone.

On the back there is a 13-megapixel camera on the back with PDAF, LED Flash and f/2.2 aperture. It doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor. Even though the phone has a polycarbonate body, the build quality is good and the phone doesn’t slip out of your hands easily. It has a 3000mAh built-in battery.

It also comes in Platinum Silver and Rose Gold colors, is priced at Rs. 4999 for the 2GB RAM with 16GB storage version, for the first five million units, post which it will be available for Rs.  5,999. 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version costs Rs. 6,999. It will be available exclusively on Flipkart as well as Mi.com online,  Mi Home Stores and partner stores starting from December 7th.
