T-Mobile G1 Unlocked works in India on Airtel

I recently got my hands on a T-Mobile G1 the first Google Android powered phone.

I brought it to India from USA. I unlocked the handset through T-Mobile and the phone now works perfectly fine on Airtel .

We are working on a in depth review of the phone which is the first phone based on the Google Android Operating System.

We have been telling you about gPhone since August 2007

As you can see the phone works perfectly fine on Airtel’s Network.

I was able to get most features working easily starting from calling , browsing , Messaging , Email etc.

Internet works totally fine with GPRS / EDGE (Mobile Office) and Wi-Fi

Google Maps works .. but GPS / My location does not seem to work indoors

      From what I know, you can only unlock if you have service and you can only have service on a T-Mobile SIM in America :(

    Hello,
    I purchased unlock code for “T-Mobile G1″ from fastgsm.com and unlocked phone using Airtel SIM but after unlocking it show no signal.
    and i can see google account login option.
    when i tried entering my login details it says no network found.

    please can you let me know how to run airtel on this unlocked T-Mobile G1

    Just go to any good cellphone repair shop, ask them to unlock it. They may charge anything between Rs 500 to 2000. Then it will work. I have been using G1 for the past one and half years.

      i have unlocked. But it ask’s to sign in gmail account. When i sign in, it shows no internet connection avaliable. Network is full. plz help.

    My bro gave me a T-Mobile G1 but i dont know how to unlock it in india, the phone was working in the US.. when i insert the indian sim card (BSNL) it asks for sim unlock code.. what can be done to unlock the same.

    i hav brought a tmobile g1 and due to some msitake the ph got restarted and now it is asking me 2 enter my google a/c num to re start the ph how ever i am not able to do so it jst shows me there may be some prblm with ur sim try after som time pls suggest me som hw can i re start it
