The Moto 360 from Motorola has finally gotten an upgrade and it was just launched at the pre-IFA event by Motorola’s parent company in Berlin. The 2nd gen Moto 360 might look exactly the same as its predecessor but it brings changes in the form of choices and customization. There are two different dial sizes, a women’s edition, a sports edition and a bigger battery for the one with the larger dial. More about the new 360 in this video –

Yes, the black strip still exists but that’s not going to deter people from customizing the watch because the Moto 360 2nd gen is the first smartwatch that will be added to the Moto Maker program, using which you can literally mix and match the style of your watch with tons of choices.

The regular variant has a 46mm dial size while the women’s collection will come with a smaller 42mm dial, and with it come the various thin bands more suited for a female wrist than before. There are also a number of metallic bands now made available and all of these bands have a new mechanism for easier replacement. The bands for the 46mm variant are 28mm while it is 22mm for the 42mm variant.

As far as hands on impressions go, there is not much of a difference between this and the previous generation 360, but the screen does feel a tad sharper on the smaller variant. The Moto 360 2nd gen runs on Android Wear, which now works with iOS and Moto has also added a couple of its own apps for fitness tracking, which of course includes monitoring your heart beat.

In the end, the new Motorola Moto 360 is all about giving users the same goodness of the previous generation smartwatch, but with a lot more choices for different demographics and the power of customisation, which nicely captures the core idea of Android Wear. Priced at $299, the roll out of the Moto 360 2nd gen starts soon. Are you looking forward to get one? Let us know in the comments section below.
