Another massive ransomware attack it hitting across the globe including UK, US and Russia. Several companies confirmed so far to have fallen victim to GoldenEye/Petya ransomware. The attack makes use of the same vulnerability that allowed for the spread of the WannaCry ransomware in May. The Petya ransomware hijacks victims’ computers before encrypting their files and holding them hostage until a fee is paid.

Wanakiwi tool released to fix WannaCry ransomware infected PCs

If you have a computer that is infected by the recent WannaCry ransomware attack, there is a glimpse of hope to gain access to your files.  French security researchers have developed a fix that gets rid of the ransomware and restores your files. However, the new tool only works on Windows XP to Windows 7, and only on computers that have not been rebooted since the infection. Microsoft slams NSA over WannaCry ransomware attack

Over the weekend a massive ransomware cyber attack WannaCry hit over 150 countries affecting healthcare, public transport, law enforcement, businesses, and individuals globally.
