Amit Singhal, Google Search SVP is retiring after 15 years

Google’s senior vice president for Search, Amit Singhal is bidding adieu to the company after a 15 year long stint. Singhal, who joined Google in 2000 will be replaced by John Giannandrea, currently vice president of engineering and head of artificial intelligence.

It can now break down a query to understand the semantics of each piece. The app is starting to truly understand the meaning of what you’re asking, said the company. Google introduced voice search in 2008, and the Knowledge Graph in 2012. Knowledge Graph that powers the Google Search app cards got updated earlier this year to add details about common health conditions.
