Google has announced an expanded set of Android theft protection updates focused on reducing the risk of financial fraud and data misuse after a phone is lost or stolen. Google has started rolling out new over-the-air (OTA) update for Nexus devices and also posted factory images as part of monthly Android Security release. The latest update this month fixes several critical issues, including issues in Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability in framework APIs, Mediaserver, S hell and Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Mediaserver and more. In addition to security fixes for August 1st, this also includes another update dated August 5th that cover hardware vulnerabilities on Nexus devices.
