Google rolls out August Android security update for Nexus devices


Google has started rolling out new over-the-air (OTA) update for Nexus devices and also posted factory images as part of monthly Android Security release. The latest update this month fixes several critical issues, including issues in Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability in framework APIs, Mediaserver, S hell and Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Mediaserver and more. In addition to security fixes for August 1st, this also includes another update dated August 5th that cover hardware vulnerabilities on Nexus devices.

New builds for the Nexus devices with August Android Security update:

  • Nexus 5 (MOB30W)
  • Nexus 5X (MTC20F)
  • Nexus 6 (MMB30R and MOB30W)
  • Nexus 6P (MTC20F)
  • Nexus 7 2013 WiFi and LTE (MOB30X)
  • Nexus 9 WiFi and LTE (MOB30W)
  • Nexus Player (MOB30W)
