vivo X Fold6 with 120Hz LTPO AMOLED displays, IP5X, IPX8, IPX9 ratings, 200MP camera, 7000mAh battery announced

At its latest press conference, vivo officially announced its newest foldable flagship smartphone, the vivo X Fold6. The device introduces notable updates in design, imaging capabilities, battery technology, and multitasking software.

Design and Display

The vivo X Fold6 features an updated physical design incorporating rounded corners and a 2.5D metal frame structure. The smartphone is available in three nature-inspired color variants:

  • Blue Hole: Inspired by the oceanic Great Blue Hole.
  • Salt Lake: Modeled after the reflective landscape of the Uyuni Salt Flat.
  • Polar Night: Designed to evoke a calm polar winter night.

The smartphone is built around a dual-screen configuration:

  • Internal Display: An 8.02-inch Samsung M14 panel featuring a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • External Display: A 6.51-inch BOE panel, also supporting a 120Hz refresh rate.

Both panels have received TÜV Rheinland Global Eye Protection 3.0 certification and incorporate hardware-level 1-nit low-light adjustment capabilities to manage user eye fatigue in dim environments.

Hardware and Performance Specifications

The device is powered by the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition processor. For network stability, the phone includes vivo’s self-developed 1+4 communication chipset, which comprises a single global signal amplifier alongside four specialized Wi-Fi enhancement and wall-penetrating chips.

Durability ratings include IP5X dust resistance, as well as IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance certifications. The manufacturer also claims the hardware is freeze-proof down to -20°C.

Battery and Charging

The X Fold6 contains a 7,000mAh capacity battery. It is the first in the industry to combine fifth-generation silicon anode technology with vivo’s exclusive third-generation semi-solid-state battery technology, optimizing energy density and temperature resilience.

The device supports 80W wired and 40W wireless charging, similar to the predecessor.

Camera System

The rear camera module is built around a V3+ imaging chip and a multi-lens configuration developed in partnership with Zeiss:

Camera Type Sensor & Optics Specifications Additional Features
Main Camera 200MP HPB sensor, 1/1.4″ size, f/1.68 aperture Zeiss optics
Telephoto Lens 50MP LYT602 sensor, 1/1.95″ size, f/2.57 aperture 3X periscope zoom, 200mm G2 teleconverter support
Ultra-Wide Lens 50MP sensor
Software and Multitasking

On the software side, the vivo X Fold6 debuts OriginOS 6 Fold, an operating system specifically optimized for the foldable form factor. A core addition is the Atomic Workbench, which introduces serial and parallel processing modes. This interface enables users to split the large internal screen to run multiple applications simultaneously—facilitating concurrent tasks such as document viewing, web searching, content creation, and messaging on a single display interface.
