HUAWEI held an Innovative Product Launch in Berlin and refreshed its wearables portfolio. Smartwatch announcements include HUAWEI WATCH 5, the company’s flagship smartwatch with eSIM capability, and WATCH FIT 4 Pro, an outdoor activity-focused smartwatch.
While the WATCH 5 seems an incremental upgrade over its predecessor in terms of build quality and specifications, the introduction of Multi-sensing X-TAP Technology makes it stand out. Basically, HUAWEI has packed ECG, PPG, and a 10-level Tactile Sensor into a single compact module at the side of the watch, which you can tap with your fingers and get accurate health insights.
With a simple press and hold on X-TAP sensors, the watch activates its Health Glance, which offers comprehensive health-related metrics like heart rate, ECG reading, heart rate variability (HRV), and SpO2, all under a minute.
Additionally, HUAWEI also claimed to have added an NPU for its smartwatch for the first time, enabling intuitive gesture controls like double tap and double slide. Tap/slide your thumb and index fingertips together twice to make an action like clicking a picture or turning off an alarm.
The HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro, on the other hand, is a strong build square dial (more like an Apple Watch Ultra) outdoor smartwatch that has a Super-strong 550 MPa aluminium body, a Sapphire screen, 3000 nits peak brightness screen, barometer, IP6X dustproof rating and EN 13319 rated for 40 m Dive-Grade Water Resistance.
It offers pro-level outdoor activities tracking that includes trail run, hiking, outdoor cycling, Golf courses, deep dive tracking, water sport activities like sailing, kayaking, and more. Thanks to TruSense sensors, it can offer mere accurate ECG and Pulse Wave Arrhythmia analysis, all with a longer battery life of up to 10 days.
There’s also WATCH FIT 4, which is almost identical, packs similar specifications, but with less number of sensors compared to the Pro variant.
