Founded in 2011, the web app uses machine learning algorithms and natural language processing to highlight news about your connections on Facebook and LinkedIn. Whenever a friend or contact is mentioned in a news article, Newsle will send an email about it in near real-time. Newsle will continue to be a standalone app and LinkedIn will integrate its technology into companies products and services.

“LinkedIn and Newsle share a common goal: We both want to provide professional insights that make you better at what you do. For example, knowing more about the people in your network – like when they’re mentioned in the news – can surface relevant insights that help you hit your next meeting with them out of the park”, announced LinkedIn in a company blog post

Last year, LinkedIn acquired a news-reader app Pulse which shows that the company wants to be more than a social network. The professional social network has more than 300 million users globally of which 26 million are from India. Last month, LinkedIn added profile redesign from Premium users.
