Nokia Lumia 520 doubles worldwide market share according to AdDuplex

AdDuplex chief Alan Medelevich today tweeted that the Nokia Lumia 520 has doubled its worldwide marked share over the course of a month. While the handset had a 4.44% share of the Windows Phone installed base, it means that the handset is about to touch almost 9% share. This would indicate sales to the tune of a million units. Medelevich also suggested that WP8 has finally overtaken the number of Windows Phone 7 devices out there.

Nokia’s focus on bringing Windows Phone to the masses seems to be having the desired effect and the Lumia 520 is proving to be a very popular handset in growing markets like India. AdDuplex will post complete statistics from its report later this week which should also bring to light some unannounced handset models by HTC, Samsung and Nokia. Nokia’s Lumia range of phones are dominating the Windows Phone charts and hold almost 80% of the market. With the recent announcement that Windows Phone now commands 35% of the smartphone market share in Finland, it is heartening to see Microsoft’s mobile efforts finally starting to pay off.
