TECNO has officially launched the SPARK 50s 5G in India, entering the sub-Rs. 20,000 smartphone market amid rising component and memory costs. Positioned as a practical everyday device, the smartphone focuses on network reliability, rugged durability, and extended battery life.
Connectivity and Offline Communication Features
A primary focus of the SPARK 50s 5G is maintaining stable connectivity in low-reception environments. TECNO has integrated 4×4 MIMO antenna technology, which the company claims provides up to 82% faster download speeds. The device also incorporates UPS 3.0 technology designed to speed up UPI transactions—up to twice as fast under testing conditions—in congested locations such as basements, transit hubs, and crowded commercial markets.
For scenarios where cellular network access drops entirely, the phone includes a proprietary feature called FreeLink. Under line-of-sight, obstacle-free conditions, FreeLink enables point-to-point voice calls, text messaging, and image sharing over distances of up to 1.5 km without cellular reception or Wi-Fi, targeted at users working in expansive environments such as warehouses, farms, and industrial sites.
Durability, Display, and Design
The SPARK 50s 5G is available in two color variants: Burgundy Red and Breeze Blue.
To handle physical wear and tear, the handset features an IP64 Pro rating for resistance against dust and water splashes. It also meets MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability standards to withstand everyday drops, vibrations, and harsh environmental conditions. On the front, the phone carries a 120Hz display aimed at providing smoother scrolling and video playback.
Battery Capacity and Software
Powering the device is a 6,500mAh battery, supported by 45W wired fast charging.
On the software and smart features side, the smartphone comes equipped with:
- AI Noise Cancellation: Enhances voice clarity across regular cellular calls, WhatsApp calls, and conference platforms.
- Google Gemini Integration: Built-in AI assistance for writing, task organization, and general queries.
- Circle to Search: Enables users to search for on-screen items, text, or images instantly without switching applications.

Commenting on the launch, Arijeet Talapatra, CEO, TECNO Mobile India, said:
We’ve been watching the industry change, and it’s hitting the smartphone market hard, with rising memory costs pushing prices up and 5G phones feeling it the most. In the end it’s the customer who ends up paying more or waiting longer, for a phone they need every single day. That’s where we come in. With the TECNO SPARK 50s 5G, we wanted to show that you don’t have to pay more to get a phone that holds a strong signal in a crowded market, survives a rough day and lasts till night. This is TECNO’s most aggressive price for 5G, and we’re only getting started.
