vivo India has introduced OriginOS 7, the company’s latest operating system. The new software brings changes to system interactions, multitasking, productivity, connectivity, personalisation, security, battery management and gaming.
OriginOS 7
OriginOS 7 introduces Fluid Motion and Spring Animation across the system. Fluid Motion allows UI elements to deform and spring back with gestures across more than 200 scenarios, while Spring Animation responds to the speed and direction of user input. Seamless Interaction improves transitions between horizontal and vertical scrolling.
Smoothness and Performance
Origin Workbench supports multiple windows and task switching, with compatible cross-app drag-and-drop. It is available on specific models with 12GB RAM or more, while compatibility depends on the app.
The Snap-Up Engine detects ticket-purchasing scenarios and prioritises computing resources and network traffic for actions from tapping through payment and confirmation. The Universal Signal Amplification System is designed to support network transmission speed and stability.
vivo has also introduced a new memory allocation and reclamation strategy, targeted optimisation for frequently used scenarios, system-wide aging management and reduced fragmentation. The company has validated sustained smoothness through a 72-month anti-aging test.
Key performance improvements include:
- Ultra-Core Computing: App cold start time is up to 10% shorter and app page switching is up to 11% faster.
- Memory Fusion: Memory reclamation is up to 60% faster, with up to 25GB of additional storage freed on a 256GB model.
- Dual Rendering: Uses a new rendering architecture and compilation framework to improve rendering efficiency by up to 14.4%.
AI-Powered Productivity
OriginOS 7 includes Jovi, an AI assistant for compatible vivo phones and PCs. It can find information, read multiple files and distil key points, perform supported cross-device tasks and handle scheduled requests. Users can issue a command on their phone and have Jovi perform a supported task on a connected PC. Jovi can also gather followed news, compile reports on schedule and save them to Notes. It includes skills for document handling, content creation and office assistance, with options to add or create skills.
Other AI tools include:
- Snap Note: Converts whiteboards, handwritten notes, slides and mind maps into editable rich-text documents and can arrange multiple captured pages in sequence.
- AI Recorder: Provides speaker recognition, transcript refinement, highlights, AI insights and multi-template summaries. Highlights can be linked to the relevant point in the transcript, while AI Insights can map topics and progress, distil conclusions and flag potential risks or collaboration issues. Its transcription combines Microsoft Teams cloud speech technology with Google Gemini.
- Smart Call Assistant: AI Call Answering can answer calls and convert conversations into text, while Call Overview provides an AI-generated summary in the call log.
- AI Reader Mode: Reformats PDF text to fit the screen with adjusted text presentation and page transitions.
- AI Search: Searches File Manager and Origin Notes using descriptions instead of exact file names.
- Snap & Go: Recognises information from flight, train, bus and event-ticket screenshots and suggests adding it to Google Calendar through Origin Island.
AI-generated content is for reference, and availability varies by device, region, language and other factors.
Connected Experiences and Personalisation
Office Kit supports Camera Sharing, Task Handoff, notes, file transfer and cross-system file access. Camera Sharing allows a compatible vivo phone to work as a camera for video calls on a compatible MacBook, while Task Handoff can transfer supported screenshots or photos to a compatible iPad.
OriginOS 7 also supports selected Apple ecosystem functions. A compatible Apple Watch can display notifications and messages, with fitness and health data available through Origin Health. AirPods battery and connection status can appear on Origin Island, while vivo Spatial Audio is supported. iCloud for web can be accessed through vivo File Manager to view, upload and download files using an Apple Account.
Shake & Share supports one-to-many and cross-brand transfers of high-resolution, lossless photos without mobile data and requires Origin Island support.
For personalisation, Dynamic Glow responds to interactions with lighting effects, while Dynamic Translucent Material adapts to the background with Realistic, Natural and Soft styles. Immersive Home changes home screen visuals between daytime and nighttime.

- Wiggle Theme: Wallpapers wobble, spring or ripple when the phone is shaken.
- AOD Live Updates: Displays information such as deliveries and flights on the always-on display.
- Pet Pals Theme: Adds interactive companions, with the glass clock and depth effect available on select models.
- Glint Theme: Changes iridescence, glitter, patterns and light effects according to the viewing angle.
- StickIt: Adds system-level stickers across supported experiences.
Security, Battery and Gaming
Security Shield provides protection across the device, applications, communications, network and financial assets, including safeguards against malicious applications, malicious USB operations, unsafe links and spam calls. It also supports insecure Wi-Fi protection, security scans and sensitive-permission controls.
Jovi Security displays key actions when Jovi performs tasks through a PC, requires confirmation for sensitive actions and alerts users to high-risk operations. Agent privacy activity logs monitor application permission usage and can suggest adjustments.
BlueVolt Smart Engine, co-developed with Microsoft for meeting scenarios, uses hardware encoding and decoding and cross-device recognition to reduce power consumption by up to 25% during high-resolution Microsoft Teams video calls. AI-based usage learning can extend battery life by up to 4% in the same scenarios.
Other power features include:
- Extended Connected Standby: Up to 26% longer connected standby.
- Heterogeneous Computing: Up to 20% lower graphics rendering power consumption.
- Bypass Charging 3.0: Adjusts charging power and can switch to trickle charging when battery temperature rises, extending battery lifespan by up to 3%.
- Battery Life Estimate: Shows remaining usage time and estimated charging time.
For gaming, OriginOS 7 includes Ultra Game Mode, which groups performance, controls, audio and network settings. Other gaming features include:
- Glare Protection: Adjusts overly bright or oversaturated areas while retaining details and can improve visual comfort by up to 29%.
- 4D Game Vibration: Provides feedback based on in-game actions.
For general viewing and system comfort, OriginOS 7 also includes: - Nighttime Eye Protection 4.0: Analyses screen content in ultra-low-light environments and adjusts the visual presentation.
- Audio Redirect: Allows the phone speaker and a connected Bluetooth device to play different audio streams simultaneously.
- System Haptics: Provides vibration feedback with adjusted frequency and intensity for system interactions.
Roll-Out Timeline
OriginOS 7 will be available on select vivo smartphones in India. vivo will announce the supported models and rollout schedule separately.
