vivo has introduced OriginOS 7 with updates across the interface, system performance, AI, battery management, connectivity, accessibility and security. The new version brings Atomic Animation 7.0, the Blue River Smooth Engine and expanded Blue Heart Small V capabilities.
Light and Shadow Aesthetics
OriginOS 7 introduces a light-and-shadow visual system inspired by physical laws of nature. It responds to the environment, time and user interactions through changes in brightness, color, movement and visual depth.
Key updates include:
- Dynamic translucent material: Three levels of interface texture that users can switch between.
- Immersive home screen: Clearer icons and widgets during the day, with softer and deeper light, shadow and colors at night.
- Liquid theme: Wallpapers respond to taps and shaking, with options to customize pictures and animation ranges.
- Q-bounce and natural water wave: Adds jelly-like deformation, shimmering and ripple effects.
- Atomic sticker library: Supports combining, stacking and AI-assisted creation of dynamic stickers.
- AI cute pet theme: Generates an interactive theme from pet photos, with movement, charging, low-battery and music synchronization effects.
- Flash card theme: Uses the gyroscope to change light and shadow according to the phone’s angle.
Atomic Animation 7.0 and Atomic Workbench
Atomic Animation 7.0 makes interface elements deform, separate, merge and rebound during taps, swipes and drags. Elastic Animation provides consistent motion across widgets, apps and page elements, while interruptible interaction lets users change direction or stop an animation during an operation.
Atomic Workbench provides:
- Left-right layout: Runs multiple apps in parallel for communication, searching and collaboration.
- Top-bottom layout: Keeps a primary task in focus while displaying supplementary information.
- System architecture: Reworks computing scheduling, memory management and screen rendering through a self-developed multi-level dependency scheduling algorithm, heavy-load memory fusion model and multi-window rendering architecture.
vivo says its six-year anti-aging test recorded only 5.08% fluidity degradation.
Blue River Smooth Engine
The Blue River Smooth Engine reconstructs the rendering pipeline, compilation framework and storage architecture to improve system responsiveness.
vivo reports:
- 14% higher rendering efficiency.
- 19% faster page-switching response.
- 12% faster app launches.
- 60% faster memory recycling.
- Up to 25GB of additional available space on a 256GB device through Storage Compression 2.0.
It also uses intelligent dependency identification through what vivo calls “Unfair scheduling”, while the reconstructed storage framework covers memory management, recycling policies and file read-write channels.
Blue Heart Small V
OriginOS 7 expands Blue Heart Small V with Pro Mode, which can remember habits and preferences and complete complex tasks step by step.
New capabilities include:
- Travel planning: Generates personalized travel guides and combines hotel, flight and ticket information into an itinerary.
- Personal errands: Generates specified materials using information stored on the phone or computer.
- Job hunting: Customizes resumes according to a position and company and provides mock interviews.
- Small V Help: Handles settings and system tasks through natural-language requests.
- Small V Dynamic Widget: Creates personalized widgets for courses, training plans and mini-games.
- Small V Photo QA: Identifies photos, answers questions, translates content, solves problems and supports visual product searches.
- Small V Video QA: Understands live video and supports questions about objects, cultural sites and everyday scenes.
System-Level AI
OriginOS 7 adds AI capabilities across screenshots, photos, files, calendars, notes and recordings.
The main additions include:
- AI Screenshot Direct Access: Stores voucher codes and passes as cards, while recognizing pickup codes, movie tickets and other information with expiry reminders.
- Gallery Quick Clean: Compares similar images using AI-based aesthetic scores and recommends images for deletion.
- vivo Keyboard: Finds documents, schedules and contacts while users are chatting.
- AI File Manager: Groups related files by topic and allows users to ask Small V for information.
- Atomic Notes: With authorization, third-party AI apps can use notes as working context and write generated results back.
- AI Calendar: Uses deadlines, durations, preferences and habits to arrange tasks.
- Small V Memory Card: Combines photos, screenshots, text and voice into lock-screen memory cards.
- AI Recorder: Displays key content along the recording progress bar and highlights speaker viewpoints.
- Healthy Weight Loss: Uses daily points for food and workouts and generates weekly AI health reports.
- AI Photo Retouching: Supports AI-assisted object removal and cleanup.
Battery and Power Management
OriginOS 7 updates low-battery operation, background activity and charging.
- Micro-Power Wizard 3.0: Supports brief calls and location-attached text when the battery is critically low, then restores previous tasks and system state after charging.
- Transparent Battery Life: Shows remaining time for navigation, video and meetings, along with charging time.
- Blue Ocean Smart Engine: Adjusts power consumption according to activities such as navigation, photography and meetings, reducing imaging creation power consumption by up to 11%.
- Heterogeneous Computing: Reduces UI animation and screen-rendering power consumption by up to 20%, while under-display ambient-light-sensor compensation power consumption drops by up to 13%. vivo also says Youku video streaming endurance improves by 34%.
- Ultra-Long Network Standby: Reduces background wakeups and increases connected standby duration by 6%.
- Global Direct Power Supply 3.0: Dynamically adjusts charging power and supports trickle charging at high temperatures, with overall battery lifespan improved by 3%, according to vivo.
Sensory, Connectivity and Accessibility
OriginOS 7 also updates display, audio, haptics, cross-device functions and accessibility.
- Gaming Glare Protection: Detects high brightness and saturation and adjusts the display to preserve details.
- Dual-Path Directional Audio: Allows the phone speaker and Bluetooth audio to play simultaneously.
- System haptics: Adds tactile feedback for photo scrolling, zoom boundaries and lock-screen keyboard input.
- vivo Office Suite: Supports cross-screen collaboration, file transfers and task handoff across Windows, Mac and Web.
- Home Assistant: Expands smart-home device support with BlueLM/Small V controls, shortcuts and widgets.
- Smart Car Connectivity 7.0: Supports connectivity with more than 190 automotive brands and 10,000 SKUs, along with two-wheeler EV key protocols.
- Sign Language Interpreter: Supports real-time voice, text and sign-language translation, conversational translation, sign-language video generation and AI tutoring.
- vivo Vision: Uses real-time video understanding and continuous Q&A to identify objects and provide information about the surrounding environment.
AI Security and Other Updates
vivo says its AI security direction focuses on transparency, identity, permissions, boundaries and user control. The company also says it has received two AI security certifications from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
Other updates include:
- Additional lock-screen clock styles, font controls and Lock Screen Editing.
- Sensitive permission alerts for location, microphone and camera access.
- Temporary notification silencing, notification group clearing, and individual app sound and vibration controls.
- Dark-mode icon effects and updated system icons.
- Calendar to-do management improvements and AI-generated to-do imports from Recorder summaries.
- Connection Center card sizes of 11, 12, 14 and 22.
- Emergency internet access after landing abroad, campus network authentication and improved network switching in border and port areas.
Availability and Rollout
The upcoming vivo X500 series, iQOO16 and iQOO Pad Ultra will be among the first devices to feature OriginOS 7 out of the box. The OriginOS 7 China rollout schedule is as follows:
