At its annual Tech Day event held in Delhi under the theme “The Next Leap,” MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M system-on-chips (SoCs).
Built on an advanced 2nm process node, the new flagship platform focuses on architectural power efficiency, hardware-accelerated agentic AI processing, and enhanced multimedia computing.
The event convened industry analysts and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners, including representatives from Samsung, OPPO, Xiaomi, vivo, realme, OnePlus, Nothing, motorola, TECNO, Infinix, and iQOO.
MediaTek showcased its current silicon portfolio across various tiers, displaying devices such as the OPPO Find X9s (Dimensity 9500s), Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Series (Dimensity 9500), Xiaomi 17T (Dimensity 8500 Ultra), vivo T5 5G (Dimensity 7500 Turbo), TECNO Pova 8 Pro (Dimensity 7400 Ultimate), and Realme 16 Pro (Dimensity 7300 Max).
Executive Keynotes and Industry Discussion
During the keynote presentations, Anuj Sidharth, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication for MediaTek India and SEA, addressed the emergence of the token economy, identifying consumer-facing AI agents as a key driver of future processing demand. Tracy Hsiao, Senior Product Manager at MediaTek’s Wireless Communication Business Group, reviewed the architectural specifications of the Dimensity 9600 Pro, while Senior Director Thomas Ho outlined how the Dimensity 7000 and 8000 series are scaling AI capabilities into broader market segments.
OPPO Find X10 Pro Max first to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro globally
OEM deployment details were also shared during the event. Goldee Patnaik, Head of Communications at OPPO India, confirmed that the upcoming OPPO Find X10 series will adopt the platform, with the Find X10 Pro Max set to serve as the initial launch device for the Dimensity 9600 Pro in the Indian market.
The event featured an industry panel titled “Will AI Decide Your Next Flagship?” moderated by Sidharth. Panelists included Tarun Pathak (Counterpoint Research), Faisal Kawoosa (Techarc), Prabhu Ram (CMR), and Raghavan Sampath (MediaTek India). The discussion examined changing consumer evaluation criteria, noting a gradual transition from traditional raw hardware metrics toward on-device intelligence, low-latency execution, and localized data privacy.
Dimensity 9600 Pro: Technical Specifications
The Dimensity 9600 Pro introduces several architectural updates across compute, AI processing, graphics, and imaging:
- All-Big-Core CPU Architecture: The SoC utilizes a 2+3+3 configuration featuring two C2-Ultra cores operating at up to 4.55GHz, three C2-Pro big cores at 4.35GHz, and three C2-Pro big cores clocked at 3.1GHz. According to MediaTek, the configuration delivers a 17% gain in single-core performance, a 15% increase in multi-core performance, and up to a 61% reduction in multi-core power consumption compared to the preceding generation.
- Dual-NPU and Agentic AI Architecture: Designed to handle proactive, context-aware digital agents across system applications, the platform integrates the NPU 1090 alongside a secondary power-optimized unit. The NPU 1090 provides a 51% increase in large language model (LLM) prefill performance, a 55% improvement in token generation per watt, and supports models scaling up to 30 billion parameters. The second-generation power-efficient NPU lowers power consumption for always-on AI tasks by 40%.
- G2-Ultra NX Graphics Processing: The integrated GPU introduces an 18% improvement in hardware-accelerated ray tracing, a 27% increase in peak rendering performance, and a 24% reduction in power draw. Supporting refresh rates up to 185fps, the graphics pipeline functions in tandem with the Dimensity Neural Graphics Architecture and HyperEngine framework.
- Imagiq 1290 ISP: The imaging subsystem incorporates an AI Imaging Fusion architecture supporting 17EV dynamic range capture, 4K video recording at 240fps (ultra-slow-motion), 4K at 120fps in cinematic log format, 4K at 60fps with AI True Color Tone processing, and NPU-assisted motion capture at 60fps.
Dimensity 9600M and Availability
Alongside the Pro tier, MediaTek introduced the Dimensity 9600M. The processor incorporates the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine, the Dimensity Scheduling Engine, and HyperEngine gaming optimizations to deliver flagship-adjacent capabilities, support for 185fps gameplay, always-on context perception, and real-time AI image processing.
Commercial devices equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M platforms are scheduled to begin market availability within the current quarter.
