Apple is preparing a major overhaul of its Mac lineup, with updates planned across nearly every Mac model it sells, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The roadmap includes new MacBook Pro models, refreshed iMacs, updated MacBook Air models, a MacBook Neo refresh, and upgraded Mac mini and Mac Studio models.
The updates come as Apple’s Mac lineup sees increased demand, particularly among users running computing-intensive artificial intelligence applications.
Apple’s Upcoming Mac Roadmap
According to Gurman’s report, Apple’s upcoming Mac lineup includes:

MacBook Pro and iMac Updates
The upcoming Mac updates include a new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and refreshed iMac models. The MacBook Pro, internally identified as J804, will be among the first Macs to feature the M6 chip. The updated iMac models, known as J833 and J834, will mark the first refresh to Apple’s all-in-one desktop lineup in two years.
The entry-level MacBook Pro is expected to retain a design similar to the current 14-inch model. Apple is also working on redesigned high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring OLED displays and touchscreen support.
The high-end MacBook Pro models, internally identified as K114 and K116, are expected to include:
- OLED display with touchscreen support
- M5 Pro and M5 Max chip options
- Testing with macOS 27.1
OLED (organic light-emitting diode) displays are already used in products such as iPhone and iPad Pro models.
MacBook Air and MacBook Neo Updates
Apple is preparing updated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models, internally identified as J913 and J915. The refreshed models are expected to maintain a design similar to the current lineup, while an OLED MacBook Air model is being planned for the future. The MacBook Air was last redesigned in 2022.
Another 14-inch MacBook Pro model, identified as K104, is in development. It will share design elements with the upcoming high-end MacBook Pro models but will use a standard M7 chip.
The MacBook Neo update includes:
- Updated A19 Pro chip
- Additional memory
- Future refreshes with new colors
Future OLED iMac, Mac mini and Mac Studio Updates
Apple is working on a future iMac model with an OLED display, following the same display technology planned for high-end MacBook models and future MacBook Air versions. OLED technology is also expected to arrive on the iPad mini.
The company is testing updated Mac mini and Mac Studio models with newer processors. The Mac mini is being tested with M5 Pro and M6 chips, while the Mac Studio is being tested with M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips.
The Mac mini and Mac Studio have seen increased demand among users running artificial intelligence applications due to their processing capabilities and support for external monitors and different computing environments.
