Apple is preparing a refreshed iPad Pro lineup and a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro for 2027, alongside several major products planned around the iPhone’s 20th anniversary cycle, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
iPad Pro lineup focuses on internal upgrades
Apple is testing four new iPad Pro models planned for a spring 2027 launch. The devices will retain the existing 11-inch and 13-inch display sizes with no major design changes.
The updates will focus on performance improvements through faster Apple silicon chips. Apple has also tested vapor chamber cooling for the iPad Pro to improve sustained performance and reduce overheating under heavy workloads.
Key iPad Pro details:
- Four models under testing
- 11-inch and 13-inch display sizes retained
- Next-generation Apple silicon chips
- Vapor chamber cooling tested
- Launch: Spring 2027
Redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro in development
Apple is working on a redesigned entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, codenamed K104, expected in the first half of 2027. The device will adopt a new design aligned with upcoming higher-end MacBook models.
Those higher-end MacBooks are expected to feature touch-enabled displays, with a launch window between late 2026 and early 2027. The entry-level model follows the same design direction.
Apple previously completed development of another entry-level MacBook Pro, codenamed J804, which was planned for a 2025 release with the current design and a base M6 chip. The lineup was last updated in October 2025.
Key MacBook Pro details:
- 14-inch entry-level model
- New design (K104)
- Aligned with upcoming touch-screen MacBooks
- Expected launch: H1 2027
- Earlier J804 model planned with M6 chip
M7 chip development and roadmap pressure
Apple is targeting the M7 chip launch in the first half of 2027, continuing a faster transition from the upcoming M6 generation. The focus is on improving performance for AI and machine learning workloads.
The company is facing ongoing memory and silicon shortages that have affected its supply chain. As a result, several product schedules remain in flux and the roadmap may change. Apple recently increased prices across its Mac and iPad lineup.
Key silicon updates:
- M7 chip targeted for H1 2027
- Faster transition from M6 generation
- AI-focused performance improvements
- Supply chain constraints impacting timelines
Broader Apple product lineup and 2027 hardware cycle
If timelines remain unchanged, the new iPad Pro and MacBook Pro will launch alongside other Apple products planned for the same period, including a second-generation iPhone Air with camera and battery improvements and an entry-level iPhone 18.
Apple continues to use spring launches to spread product releases across the year. In its most recent March cycle, the company introduced the iPhone 17e, MacBook Neo, updated monitors, new MacBook Air models, refreshed MacBook Pro models, and new Apple silicon chips.
The report also highlights a major product wave around the iPhone’s 20th anniversary, including a special anniversary iPhone, a second-generation foldable iPhone, Apple’s first smart glasses, and new smart home devices.
