motorola has introduced Global Connect, a new official travel connectivity application designed to streamline international roaming.
A Dedicated Connectivity Solution
Developed in partnership with Gigs, a prominent provider of embedded connectivity solutions, Global Connect is a dedicated travel app available in select regions. Additionally, the software comes pre-installed on millions of compatible motorola devices.
The service utilizes eSIM technology, meaning users do not need to install a new digital SIM every time they cross a border. A single eSIM remains active and adaptable, allowing users to move seamlessly between supported countries without swapping profiles or hardware.
Data Offerings and Network Coverage
To introduce users to the service, motorola is offering 1GB of complimentary data to every eligible user. According to the company, 1GB is sufficient for approximately one hour of video streaming or over 10 hours of web browsing. This introductory data allotment can be utilized across more than 160 countries.
Once the complimentary data is exhausted, users can purchase additional coverage directly within the app by:
- Selecting their destination.
- Choosing a data allowance.
- Completing the purchase.
- Installing the eSIM to connect.
motorola states that the service delivers high-speed data by partnering with hundreds of networks worldwide to secure the strongest available signal. The platform also promises transparent pricing with no hidden fees.
Market Launch and Availability
The launch of Global Connect coincides with a major summer travel and football tournament season, positioning itself as an alternative to unreliable public Wi-Fi for fans and tourists traveling to stadiums or watching matches on the go.
The Global Connect app is available starting today in the Google Play Store across five initial markets:
- Brazil
- Mexico
- Argentina
- Peru
- Chile
Select European nations are scheduled to receive access to the application later this year.
