Samsung Electronics has announced a major update to Samsung Health, introducing a new set of AI-powered health features for the upcoming Galaxy Watch lineup. The update is designed to simplify daily health tracking by converting complex biometric data into clear, actionable insights.
It reflects Samsung’s broader direction toward an AI-driven health platform that continuously analyzes user activity, sleep, and body signals to provide more structured wellness information.
AI-powered health features for Galaxy Watch
Vitals: overnight biometric signal tracking
The Vitals feature monitors five key overnight health signals:
- Heart rate
- Heart rate variability
- Respiratory rate
- Skin temperature
- Blood oxygen level

These metrics are compared against the user’s true resting baseline. The system only sends notifications when meaningful deviations are detected, helping users understand recovery needs or possible illness while reducing unnecessary alerts and avoiding alert fatigue.
Heart Health Score: long-term cardiovascular tracking
The Heart Health Score evolves from the earlier Vascular Load feature. It combines:
- Sleep data
- Stress levels
- Activity patterns
- Body composition data

This produces a single daily score that represents long-term heart health trends and highlights lifestyle factors affecting cardiovascular well-being.
Daily Cardio Load: exercise strain monitoring
The Daily Cardio Load feature measures cardiovascular strain during aerobic activity. It compares daily exertion with maximum training capacity and recommends:
- Training intensity levels
- Rest requirements
- Recovery timing

This helps users manage workout load and avoid overtraining.
Fitness Index: fitness progress evaluation
The Fitness Index tracks fitness improvements using:
- VO₂ max
- Heart rate data
- Daily step count

It compares performance with peer groups to identify strengths and weaknesses and provides personalized guidance for gradual improvement.
Redesigned Samsung Health experience
The updated Samsung Health introduces a simplified interface organized into five core sections:
- Sleep
- Activity
- Nutrition
- Mindfulness
- Vitals
The home screen integrates daily wellness insights with an AI-powered Energy Score, providing a unified view of overall health in one place.
Enhanced wellness tracking features
Antioxidant Index updates
The upgraded Antioxidant Index provides:
- Trend charts
- Daily history tracking
- Better mapping of dietary intake to physical responses
This helps users understand how nutrition influences overall health patterns.
AGEs index background monitoring
The enhanced AGEs index runs automatically in the background during sleep. It captures overnight measurements to build long-term insights into how lifestyle habits accumulate in the body over time.
Hearing Health feature
The Hearing Health feature uses Galaxy Watch sensors to monitor ambient noise levels. It provides personalized insights to help users protect hearing in environments such as:
- Loud commutes
- High-volume workouts
- Urban surroundings
Galaxy ecosystem integration
Samsung extends these health features across its Galaxy ecosystem, enabling seamless synchronization between smartphones and wearable devices. This allows users to access consistent health insights across devices while the system continuously refines recommendations based on collected data.
Availability
The Samsung Health update will begin rolling out on June 8. It will serve as a preview of upcoming Galaxy Watch features, while the full AI-powered health capabilities will be available with the next-generation Galaxy Watch lineup.
