Coca-Cola India launches Gemini-powered ‘Halftime Surprise’


Coca-Cola India has announced the launch of “Coca-Cola Halftime Surprise,” a new interactive digital experience developed in collaboration with Google. Built using Google’s Gemini AI models, the campaign aims to transform standard consumer breaks into interactive, personalized digital experiences.

The initiative aligns with Coca-Cola’s global “Halftime” marketing philosophy, which focuses on enhancing everyday pauses. Consumers can participate by scanning QR codes on specially marked Coca-Cola packs, which grants them access to a themed, gamified interface powered by Gemini’s Canvas feature.

Interactive Journeys and Themes

The platform offers three distinct multimedia paths based on user inputs, selfies, and aesthetic preferences. Each journey features a unique interface and specific consumer rewards:

  • Be a Rockstar: Utilizing a nostalgic jukebox-themed interface, this path allows users to convert a selfie into a customized digital album cover complete with personalized tracks. Participants enter a draw to win concert tickets.

  • Be a Movie Star: This journey features a movie vending machine interface where users are cast as the central character in a custom, six-panel digital comic strip. Participants stand a chance to win movie vouchers.

  • Travel Through Time: Modeled as a digital time machine, this option enables users to generate a vision-board style collage around their selfie, set across various historical or futuristic eras. Prizes for this path include flight and hotel vouchers.
Technological Integration

The activation leverages generative AI to create dynamic visual narratives, evolving character aesthetics, and varied thematic backgrounds—ranging from prehistoric settings to futuristic realities—tailored to individual user choices.

This initiative follows Coca-Cola India’s previous generative AI campaign, “Festicons,” which was launched during the Diwali festive season to enable user-generated festive greetings.

The “Halftime Surprise” campaign marks a transition into an always-on digital engagement strategy, utilizing AI to maintain ongoing consumer interaction through everyday purchasing touchpoints.
