Bharti Airtel has launched Priority Postpaid, a new service tier designed to provide a more consistent network experience for its postpaid users through the implementation of 5G network slicing. The service is aimed at professionals and consumers who require uninterrupted connectivity for work, online collaboration, and entertainment.
5G Network Slicing Capabilities
To facilitate this service, Airtel has upgraded its existing 5G infrastructure with advanced network slicing capabilities, branded internally as “Fastlane Technology.” This technology dynamically segments the network, creating dedicated capacity that can be targeted for specific uses. By intelligently managing bandwidth, the network is designed to maintain a stable connection for Priority customers, even during periods of high traffic demand.
While 5G slicing has been deployed internationally over the past year in markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Malaysia, Airtel’s rollout marks the first commercial application of this technology in India.
Availability and Device Requirements
Airtel Priority service is available across all current postpaid plans.
- Existing Postpaid Customers: Will be upgraded to the Priority benefits automatically.
- Prepaid and New Customers: Can transition to Priority Postpaid plans via the Airtel application or by visiting physical Airtel retail locations.
To utilize the service, customers must possess a 5G Standalone (SA)-enabled smartphone running the latest software. Users can verify their device’s readiness through the Airtel app or check their device settings for pending software updates.
Priority Postpaid Plans and Pricing
The Priority Postpaid service is structured across several tiers, catering to individuals and varying family sizes. All plans include Priority 5G access, fraud detection, spam alert services, unlimited data and calling, and 3000 SMS.
