Sony delays Android 4.0 ICS update for Xperia smartphones, to roll out starting mid-April



Sony announced that they would roll out Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for 2011 Xperia devices starting March end , but the update is now delayed and is being pushed to mid-April. The first phones to get the update would be Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray as they announced previously, that would be available in mid-April and continue over 4 to 6 weeks to reach globally.

Other devices including Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman would receive the update at the end of May/early June. The Android 4.0 update for Sony Xperia S would be available in late-Q2 2012.

This update would not be available Over the Air (OTA) via Wi-Fi/3G as they announced previously, and it would be available only via PC Companion and Bridge for Mac. The roll out may vary by market and carrier requirements.
