Vi 5G services now available in all 14 districts in Kerala

Vi has announced the statewide expansion of its 5G network in Kerala, extending coverage to all 14 districts. This rollout follows the initial launch of services in major hubs such as Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Malappuram, marking a shift from select urban coverage to a broader statewide presence.

Expansion and Coverage Areas

The network expansion targets both urban centers and emerging towns within the state. Vi reports that it has densified its 5G coverage to service major commercial hubs, educational institutes, tourism corridors, and high-density residential zones.

Key locations now covered include:

  • Major Cities: Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur, and Kollam.
  • Regional Hubs: Alappuzha, Kannur, Kasaragod, Kottayam, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, and Wayanad.
  • Specific Towns: Kalamassery, Kalpetta, Manjeri-Malappuram, Tirur, and Thodupuzha.

Vi has stated that this infrastructure upgrade is designed to support high-bandwidth activities, including ultra-fast downloads, 4K video streaming, and low-latency gaming.

Pricing and Introductory Offers

Coinciding with the expansion, Vi has introduced new pricing tiers for its 5G services in the region. The operator is positioning its entry-level offering as a competitive option for Kerala users, with 5G packs starting at Rs. 299.

Parallel 4G Network Infrastructure Upgrades

In addition to the 5G rollout, Vi released data regarding the simultaneous strengthening of its 4G infrastructure. The company aims to improve indoor and outdoor network performance across the state through significant hardware deployment.

Operational Data (September 2024–September 2025):

  • New Sites Deployed: Over 3,500 new 4G sites were added across Kerala.
  • Spectrum Bands: The deployment spans the 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2100 MHz bands.

The operator has indicated plans to continue adding sites in the coming months to further augment capacity and bandwidth for 4G users while systematically expanding the 5G footprint to remaining regions.

Regarding the statewide 5G rollout, George Mathew V. Cluster Business Head- Kerala, Vodafone Idea said:

We are happy to announce that Vi 5G is now available in every district in Kerala. In the second half of 2025, we accelerated 5G deployments across the state with advanced, energy-efficient infrastructure and AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) to automatically optimize network performance and deliver high-speed, reliable connectivity. With the enhanced network, we can confidently say that Vi 5G provides a future-ready experience built on high-performance connectivity.
