realme is expected to rejoin OPPO as a sub-brand, according to multiple reports that surfaced on Wednesday. The move would place realme and OnePlus under a coordinated structure led by OPPO, while keeping each brand positioned independently.
What the reports say
Chinese publication IT Home reported that realme’s official flagship store confirmed the development. The store said that the move is intended to enable closer collaboration and more efficient use of resources.
The statement added that OPPO, realme, and OnePlus will work together to deliver differentiated products and more comprehensive services for global users.
The report also noted that realme CEO Sky Li will oversee the overall sub-brand business, while OnePlus China President Jie Li will continue in his current role. realme’s upcoming product launches are expected to proceed as scheduled.
Operational impact
The move is aimed at improving coordination across OPPO, realme, and OnePlus while optimizing resource allocation and cost structures. OPPO will act as the primary brand, with realme and OnePlus operating as complementary sub-brands. The change also supports OPPO’s global expansion strategy, with shared infrastructure and services across the three brands.
What remains unchanged
The restructuring will not affect realme’s product roadmap. All upcoming launches will proceed as planned. realme will also be aligned with OPPO’s after-sales service system, which reportedly includes more than 5,000 physical service locations across China.
realme originally launched as an OPPO sub-brand in May 2018 before becoming independent later that year. All three brands were previously part of BBK Electronics, which was restructured in 2023.
While the development has been reported, OPPO and realme have not yet issued a formal public announcement, which is expected soon.
