Samsung could bring full Qi2 wireless charging to Galaxy S26 series

Samsung is working on adding full native Qi2 wireless charging support to the Galaxy S26 series, according to a report from WinFuture. The upgrade follows the limited “Qi2 Ready” implementation on recent flagships and is expected to launch alongside Samsung’s own first-party Qi2 wireless charger.

25W Magnetic Wireless Charger and device compatibility

Samsung devices currently charge at up to 15W through Qi2, but the Galaxy S26 series could raise this limit. The upcoming Magnetic Wireless Charger (model EP-P2900) is rated for 25W and features a magnetic structure to attach to compatible devices during charging.

Retail information lists it in dark gray and compatible with Galaxy S, Galaxy Z, and Galaxy Buds. The charger is expected to be round, unlike Samsung’s previous square EP-P2400, as the Qi2 2.2 specification requires magnetic alignment rings for full 25W speeds.

Charging speeds and tiering

It is unclear if all Galaxy S26 models will support the full 25W Qi2 output, as this may be exclusive to the S26 Ultra, while the Galaxy S26 and S26+ could be limited to 20W. Wired charging is expected to follow a similar tiering:

  • Galaxy S26 Ultra – up to 60W
  • Galaxy S26+ – up to 45W
  • Galaxy S26 – up to 25W

Samsung is reportedly also developing Super Fast Charging 3.0 for future use.

Built-in Qi2 magnets and standard upgrade

Reports suggest the Galaxy S26 lineup will finally feature built-in Qi2 magnets, replacing the partial “Qi2 Ready” support in earlier models. Existing Samsung Qi2 chargers are capped at 15W, while the Qi 2.2 specification allows 25W speeds only with magnetic alignment, reinforcing expectations that the upcoming devices will adopt internal magnets for proper alignment and faster charging.

Outlook

Samsung recently confirmed the Exynos 2600, which is expected to power the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+, slated for launch at Galaxy Unpacked in San Francisco on February 25, 2026. With the event approaching, additional updates on wireless and wired charging may emerge, though nothing is official until Samsung confirms it.
