Google today launched its virtual apparel try-on tool in India, allowing shoppers to see how billions of clothing items — including tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets, and shoes — look on themselves by uploading a photo.
Introduced at Google I/O 2025, the feature uses a custom AI model designed for fashion. The model maps clothing onto different body types while accounting for fabrics, folds, stretch, and drape, accurately reflecting how garments appear on an individual.
How the Virtual Try-On Works
- Browse Apparel: While shopping on Google Search, tap the “try it on” icon on clothing product listings.
- Upload Photo: Upload a full-length photo in good lighting wearing fitted clothing. The AI processes the image to generate the try-on visualization.
- View Results: Within moments, the selected apparel will appear on the uploaded photo, showing how the garment fits and drapes.
- Save or Share: Users can save the virtual try-on looks or share them with others. They can also explore similar styles from the product listings.

The tool aims to make online shopping more visual by letting users try different clothing items without needing to physically wear them.
Availability
The feature is available across India. Shoppers can access it by looking for the “try it on” icon on apparel listings in Google Search.
