Update: Xiaomi has posted a new teaser that shows that the back screen can be customized to display content, including clock themes and various personalized patterns. In addition, the screen can also control the car and assist in taking selfies with the rear camera.
Earlier: After confirming Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models, Xiaomi today confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Pro will feature a large screen on the back, which the company is calling ‘Magic Back Screen’. This is bigger than the tiny 1.1″ screen on the Mi 11 Ultra from 2021.
Xiaomi smartphone head Lu Weibing regarding the Xiaomi 17 series said,
Not only the new back screen, the Xiaomi 17 series has been upgraded across generations, aiming to bring something “new” to the mobile phone industry.
Even though the image shows dual cameras on the large deco, there is a third camera below that with LEICA branding and LED flash next to it. Xiaomi already confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 series will be the first to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that the Xiaomi 17 series has a cross-generational upgrade in product strength and is fully benchmarked against the iPhone, facing it head-on.
