Samsung today introduced the first Micro RGB display, debuting with a 115-inch screen. The new television utilizes a micro-scale RGB LED backlight, a technology designed to enhance color accuracy and contrast in the premium display market.
Advanced Backlight Technology

At the core of the new display is Samsung’s proprietary Micro RGB Technology. This system employs an array of individually controlled red, green, and blue micro LEDs, each with a size of less than 100μm, positioned directly behind the screen panel. This architecture allows for granular control over the light and color output across the entire display.
AI-Powered Picture Optimization
The system is managed by the Micro RGB AI engine, which uses artificial intelligence to analyze content on a frame-by-frame basis to optimize both picture and sound. A component of this engine, the Micro RGB Color Booster Pro, is designed to identify scenes with subdued color palettes and enhance them for a more vivid picture.
Color Performance and Certification
Samsung emphasizes the display’s color fidelity with a feature named Micro RGB Precision Color. The company states that this technology achieves 100% color coverage of the BT.2020 color space, an international standard for ultra-high-definition television set by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
In relation to this, the display has received ‘Micro RGB Precision Color’ certification from the Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE), a German electrical engineering certification institute.
Design and Viewing Experience
To improve the viewing experience in various lighting conditions, the Micro RGB display includes Glare Free technology to minimize screen reflections. The unit is housed in a slim metal chassis, aiming for a minimalist aesthetic.
Software, Security, and Support
On the software side, the display integrates Samsung Vision AI, which includes AI-driven enhancements for picture and sound. It also features an updated Bixby voice assistant powered by generative AI, intended to provide more conversational and personalized user interactions.
For security and long-term support, the device is protected by the Samsung Knox platform. Samsung also includes its 7-year free Tizen OS Upgrade program, ensuring access to future software updates.
