Garmin has launched two new GPS smartwatches in India — the Forerunner 970 and Forerunner 570 — designed for runners, triathletes, and endurance athletes.
Forerunner 970
The Forerunner 970 features multi-band GPS and full-color maps with turn-by-turn navigation for urban runs or trail activities. It supports dynamic round-trip routing, allowing users to set a target distance and receive looped route suggestions, with automatic recalculation if the path changes.
Built with a sapphire crystal lens and titanium bezel, the watch has a 47 mm case and offers up to 15 days of battery life in smartwatch mode. It also supports Bluetooth calling when paired with a smartphone.
Exclusive to Forerunner 970:
- LED flashlight with adjustable brightness.
- Running Tolerance for monitoring training impact and weekly mileage recommendations.
- Running Economy to assess energy efficiency over time using the Garmin HRM 600 (sold separately).
- Step Speed Loss to track pace reduction during foot contact (HRM 600 required).
The watch supports Garmin Coach adaptive training, offering personalized plans for running, triathlon, cycling, and strength, with daily updates based on real-time recovery and performance. A Training Readiness Score is calculated every morning using sleep, HRV, training load, and recovery data.
