Ahead of the launch of its Galaxy foldables at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York later today, Samsung said that upcoming seventh-generation foldables, anticipated to include the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, will represent the thinnest, lightest, and most durable iterations yet. A more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is also rumored to be part of the unveiling.
The foldable smartphone category, first introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold in 2019, aimed to combine the portability of a smartphone with the expansive productivity of a tablet.
Despite this vision, the market for foldables has remained relatively niche, primarily due to their premium pricing and consumer concerns regarding the durability and long-term reliability of the devices.
Samsung has previously stated that its engineers and designers are consistently working to refine each successive generation of the Galaxy Z series, striving for slimmer, lighter, and more robust designs.
Rumors suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be significantly thinner, measuring as little as 4.2mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded, and potentially weighing around 216 grams, making it one of the lightest book-style foldables. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also anticipated to be notably thinner, alongside a larger 4.1-inch cover screen.
Beyond design and durability, Samsung has also teased significant camera innovations for its new foldable devices, indicating a more powerful, dynamic, and immersive camera system.
Reports suggest that the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 may incorporate camera technology inspired by the Galaxy S25 series’ Ultra camera experience. This could mark the introduction of a flagship-grade camera to the Galaxy Fold line.
Furthermore, Samsung is expected to continue its integration of artificial intelligence features with Galaxy AI. The company has emphasized that Galaxy AI aims to redefine user interaction with devices, extending beyond traditional functionalities.

Samsung already started pre-reservations for the foldables at Rs. 1999 (refundable) and said that pre-orders will get voucher up to Rs. 5999.
