TECNO today launched the POVA 7 5G, the company’s latest 5G smartphone in the POVA 7 series, in India. Here we have the unboxing and the first impressions of the smartphone.

The phone has a 6.78-inch (2460×1080 pixels) FHD+ LCD screen with 144Hz refresh rate and 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate. The screen is bright since it has up to 900 nits HBM brightness.
There is a 13MP front camera inside the tiny notch supports 4K 30 fps video recording. The earpiece is present on the top edge, which doubles as a secondary speaker. It supports Dolby Atmos audio. There is a bezel below the screen.
The phone runs Android 15 with HiOS 15 on top, and the company has promised Android 16 update and 2 years of security updates for the phone. HiOS 15 brings a new UX that is clean, has new icons, wallpapers, Animation Engine, and has Ella AI that brings Multilingual Support including Hindi, and it will support Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, and Marathi by the end of this year, said the company.
There is AI Call Assistant that provides real-time translations, transcriptions, and summaries for calls, including WhatsApp. Other features include AI Auto Answer, AI Voiceprint Noise Suppression, AI Writing & Document Assistant and AI Screen Awareness. Gallery app has AI Eraser 2.0 & Image Extender, AI Sharpness Plus, and there is also AI Wallpaper Generator, Vogue Portraits & Artboard.
Under the hood, the TECNO POVA 7 5G is powered by the Dimensity 7300 Ultimate chipset, making it one of the few phones with the chip in the price range. It has support for 10 5G bands, has 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. For connectivity there is 5G++, VoWiFi Dual Pass, Intelligent Signal Hub System, and more for the best network experience.
On the back Multi-Functional delta light interface smartphone that performs in multiple scenarios such as music, volume change and more.
Coming to button placements, the power button which embeds the fingerprint scanner is present on the right along with volume rockers. The hybrid dual SIM slot is present on the left. The primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone and vent for speaker are present on the top. The infrared sensor is present on the back in the camera module.
The phone has dual rear cameras that include a 50MP main camera along with a 2MP secondary depth sensor. It supports 4K video recording at 30fps from the rear camera.

The phone has a design inspired by the delta symbol (Δ). Even though it has a plastic build, it feels solid in hand. It packs a huge, 6000mAh battery and has support for 45W wired charging that can charge the phone in just over an hour. It also supports bypass charging as well as 10W reverse wired charging.
