After teasing the launch of K13x 5G smartphone in India, OPPO today revealed details about the build of the phone. The device features an internal shock-absorption cushioning system and a high-strength aluminum alloy frame.
Its construction is stated to meet military-grade standards, combining elements of scientific design and evolutionary concepts for enhanced longevity.
A Fusion of Nature’s Wisdom and Modern Engineering
The K13x’s “Armor Body” integrates a biomimetic structural design, drawing inspiration from sea sponges known for their ability to withstand harsh underwater conditions. This design is implemented through OPPO’s “Sponge Biomimetic Shock Absorption System,” which utilizes elastic materials to create buffer zones for critical internal components. The casing incorporates void-rich composite layers, aiming to mimic the stress-diffusing architecture found in sea sponges.
This approach is intended to dissipate external stress through interconnected pores and flexible internal scaffolding, a principle mirrored in the K13x’s shock-absorption system. According to lab simulations, biomimetic structures can potentially reduce impact forces more effectively than traditional damping materials.
By integrating these properties, OPPO aims to provide internal protection, particularly against accidental drops or impacts, while maintaining a slim and lightweight form factor. Key internal parts are also sealed with adhesive to protect against vibration-induced wear and minor shocks.
Built for Resilience
The structural integrity of the K13x is supported by an “AM04 high-strength aluminum alloy inner frame.” This material, stated to be derived from aerospace-grade additive manufacturing, is designed for rigidity and durability, offering enhanced resistance compared to previous-generation alloys. While the outer middle frame is made from lightweight plastic for weight optimization, the AM04 skeleton is intended to provide shock resistance.
The front of the device features “Crystal Shield glass,” which is described as offering increased impact resistance compared to conventional materials. Each K13x device is also bundled with an “Anti-Drop Shield Case” for additional protection upon purchase.
Certified and Tested for Durability
The OPPO K13x has obtained several certifications, including:
- SGS Gold Drop-Resistance Certification
- SGS Military Standard Certification
- MIL-STD 810-H Shock Resistance Certification
IP65 ratings for dust and water resistance
Beyond drop protection, the K13x is rated IP65, indicating complete dust protection (IP6X) and resistance to low-pressure water jets (IPX5). The device’s waterproof enclosure includes precision glue and foam adhesives for sealing key components, and waterproof gaskets and silicone seals for the USB port, SIM tray, and audio jack.
The “Splash Touch” feature is also highlighted, allowing for screen responsiveness even with wet or greasy hands. Additionally, “Glove Touch” is featured for screen control while wearing gloves or using a waterproof case.
Manufactured and Tested in India
The OPPO K13x is manufactured in India and features a “360° Damage-Proof Armour Body” designed for all-round protection. The device has undergone various drop tests, including drops from 1.1m to 1.3m on granite surfaces and extreme drop tests from over 1.4m, with reported consistent functionality.
Design and Aesthetics

The OPPO K13x will be available in two color options: “Midnight Violet” and “Sunset Peach.” “Midnight Violet” is described as evoking the appearance of distant nebulae, while “Sunset Peach” is inspired by dawn mist over mountains.
We should know more details about the phone in the coming days before it goes official later this month.
