Humane unveils ‘Ai Pin’ Digital Assistant without a screen

San Francisco’s Humane unveiled its debut product, the Ai Pin, a compact digital assistant. This square device, easily attachable to clothing or surfaces via a magnetic clip, doubles as a battery pack.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, it employs a camera, depth, and motion sensors to observe surroundings. Equipped with a personic speaker and Bluetooth connectivity for headphones, the Pin lacks a screen.

Interaction is primarily voice-based, with additional features like a green laser projector for information display on your hand. Gesture-based commands are possible through the touchpad. Unlike constant recording, the Pin requires manual activation, indicated by a Trust Light when recording.

Operating on the Cosmos system, it seamlessly calls upon various AIs and tools. Similar to ChatGPT’s plugin system, it aligns with reports suggesting GPT-4 powers the Pin.

Beyond text communication, the Pin translates real-time spoken conversations between English and Spanish. Access to internet-based AI services from Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, and others enables diverse queries.

The assistant summarizes daily calendars, messages, and health data, offering features like personalized message composition and email inbox summaries. It identifies food for nutritional details, supports Tidal music streaming with an AI DJ, and provides AI-centric photography features. Photos can be viewed on Humane’s web app.
