Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 surfaces in benchmarks ahead of October launch

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has surfaced Geekbench listing running on a nubia phone with Android 14, 12 GB of RAM and model number NX769J, which should be a prototype unit rumoured to be Red Magic 9.

It reveals single-core points of 1596 and multi-core points of 5977 points, which is less than earlier leaks which showed 2233 single-core and 6661 multi-core points of an alleged Galaxy S24+.

According to leaker Digital Chat station, this is a preliminary score and might vary in the final version. This also shows 2 Cores clocked @ 2.27 GHz, 5 Cores @ 2.96 GHz and 1 Core @ 3.19 GHz

Based on earlier rumours, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (SM8650) SoC will get a new “1+5+2” architecture, compared to “1+2+2+3” setup in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This is said to bring a more powerful performance core and higher frequency, and use TSMC N4P process.

The chip is said to use 1 x Cortex-X4 prime core, 5 x A720 performance cores and 2 x A520 power efficiency cores and Adreno 750 GPU.

The Adreno 750 GPU is said to get significant improvements in the performance compared to the Adreno 740 and feature 10MB L3 cache, compared 8MB L3 cache in the predecessor.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be introduced at the sixth annual Snapdragon Tech Summit scheduled from October 24th to 26th, a month ahead of the usual time.

Based on earlier rumours, Xiaomi 14 series will be the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC when it releases in November. The vivo X100 series, iQOO 12 series, Redmi K70 Pro, OnePlus 12, Red Magic 9 series and more are expected to use the chip.
