Sony WH-1000XM5 firmware update adds head tracking

Sony has announced a new firmware update for its flagship WH-1000XM5 wireless noise-canceling headphones, launched in India in September 2022. These updates aim to further enhance the already highly praised user experience and audio capabilities of the headphones.

The firmware update adds LDAC support during multipoint connections, enabling users to enjoy high-quality audio on multiple devices simultaneously. Additionally, the update expands app compatibility, making it easier for users to connect with popular apps such as Locatone, endel, Auto Play, and Spotify.

A standout feature of the update is Head Tracking support, designed to enhance the sound experience by enabling users to perceive changes in sound direction when they move their heads. This feature promises a more immersive and realistic audio experience.

The WH-1000XM5 headphones are already known for their exceptional noise-canceling performance, thanks to the Integrated Processor V1, fully unlocking the potential of Sony’s HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1.

The specially designed 30mm driver unit further enhances the headphones’ noise-canceling capabilities, providing a premium audio experience. Additionally, the headphones offer up to 30 hours of battery life, allowing for extended listening sessions without frequent recharging.
