vivo X90 Pro Unboxing and First Impressions


vivo today launched the X90 series of smartphones in India. Here we have the X90 Pro, which is the successor to last year’s X80 Pro. This has a FHD+ 120Hz curved AMOLED screen compared to QHD+ screen in the predecessor, but gets upgrades in most segments such as processor, camera, charging and lots more. We bring you the unboxing of the X90 Pro along with the first impressions of the phone.

The Vivo X90 Pro packs a 6.70-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with curved corners, 120Hz refresh rate, 1300 nits brightness, 2160Hz ultra-high frequency PWM dimming and has minimal bezels. Overall, the display looks brilliant.

This is the first phone in India to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC and it has vapor chamber cooling. It comes in single 12GB LPDDR5 RAM + 256GB (UFS 4.0) storage version. It runs Android 13 with Funtouch OS 13 out of the box, and the performance is smooth. The company has promised 3 OS updates and 3 years of software updates for the phone.

It has a tiny punch-hole that houses the 32-megapixel camera. Compared to the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner in the X80 Pro, the X90 Pro has an optical fingerprint scanner, but this doesn’t have any issues and unlocks the phone quickly.

The phone has power buttons and volume rockers on the right side, and there is nothing on the left, except for the antenna cutouts, since it has a metal frame. The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone is present on the top along with an IR blaster.

Coming to the camera, the phone features triple rear cameras with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection for the camera part. The cameras include a 50MP camera with 1″Sony IMX989 sensor f/1.75 aperture, LED flash, OIS, 12MP ultra-wide camera with IMX663 sensor, f/2.0 aperture and a 50MP 50mm 2X portrait camera with Sony IMX758 sensor, f/1.6 aperture. It has up to 40x super zoom, Zeiss T* coating, ZEISS optics and V2 chip.

Camera features include Handheld Astro mode, Pro Sports and Night sports mode with Zero Shutter Lag Motion. The Snapshot feature that combines the high-speed shutter and motion detection algorithm, which can instantly freeze the frame, making subjects look clear without any blur in motion scenarios. The X90 Pro has a vegan leather finish on the back that offers a good grip and is resistant to fingerprints and smudges. The phone also has IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The phone is 9.34mm thick, and packs a 4,870mAh battery with 120W fast charging and also has wireless charging.

Priced at Rs. 84,999, the phone is already available for pre-order from vivo India eStore, Flipkart and offline stores and will go on sale from May 5th. There are also several launch offers.
