Red Magic 8 Pro and Pro+ with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, under-display camera to be announced on December 26

Red Magic today confirmed the launch of Red Magic 8 Pro series smartphones in China on December 26th. This will include the Red Magic 8 Pro and the 8 Pro+ models, as the successor to Red Magic 7S Pro, which was introduced earlier this year. The phones will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and the teaser confirms that it will retain the under-screen camera design.

The image also shows a flat display with flat sides, along with gaming triggers. Based on earlier reports, the phone will pack a 6.8-inch (1116 x 2480 pixels) OLED screen with support for an in-display fingerprint scanner, and it will feature a 16-megapixel under-screen front camera.

The phone is said to come with a 50-megapixel rear camera, along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera module. We can expect up to 18 GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB UFS. 4.0 storage.

The 8 Pro is said to feature a 5000mAh battery and the Pro+ is expected to come with a bigger 6000mAh battery. These should support 165W fast charging.

We should know the price of the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered gaming phones when these go official next Monday.
