Twitter Blue verification subscription relaunched; corporate profiles get gold checkmark

After Elon Musk withheld the Twitter Blue verification badge in November, the company has relaunched the Twitter Blue subscription with verification, which necessitates a verified mobile number to sign up.

Starting on December 12, 2022, iOS and web users were able to sign up for Twitter Blue. Twitter Blue subscribers will have access to features like Edit Tweet, 1080p video uploads, and Reader Mode that are only available to subscribers.

To recall, the revamped Blue Verification launched on November 9 but was put on hold a day later after users impersonated high-profile brands and accounts despite the platform’s rules.

Twitter Blue Pricing

Twitter Blue charges $8 (Rs. 661 approx.) per month on the web and $11 (Rs. 909 approx.) per month on iOS. Those who sign up for Twitter Blue on one platform will be able to use it on all platforms that support it (iOS, Android, and web).

  • Existing Twitter Blue users will be able to upgrade, cancel, or set their subscription to automatically renew at the new price. Prices may vary by region, though.
  • As part of signing up for Twitter Blue, everyone will have to confirm their phone number.
  • The company mentioned that it will soon be able to offer subscriptions on Android.
Gold checkmarks and Sign up

In addition, Twitter has begun designating some corporate profiles with a gold checkmark in place of the “official” term. The government and multinational accounts will soon have a grey checkmark added as well.

The company said that, in addition to checking all accounts when people sign up, it takes a number of other steps to find and stop impersonation. If a Twitter user changes their display name, profile picture, or username (@handle), they will temporarily lose their blue checkmark until Twitter reviews the changes.

Accounts that have been created in the last 90 days, accounts that aren’t being used, accounts that don’t have a verified phone number, and accounts that have recently changed their profile information won’t be able to sign up for Twitter Blue at this time. Availability

Twitter Blue subscription is now available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Twitter says that it intends to expand Blue to more countries in the near future.
