Nothing Phone (1) Nothing OS Software Update Tracker [Update: Nothing OS 2.5.2 Android 14 stable update]


Nothing launched the Nothing Phone (1) back in July 2022 in the Indian market. The Nothing Phone (1) boots Nothing OS 1.0, which is based on Android 12. The company has also promised three Android version upgrades and four year of (bi-monthly) security patch updates for the Phone (1).

Note that Android manufacturers follow a staged rollout and the updates are randomly pushed to a limited number of users. The broader rollout of firmware updates usually takes a few days after the company makes sure there are no critical bugs.

Nothing Phone (1) Nothing OS 2.0  Updates

Nothing has released Nothing OS 2.5.2 stable update based on Android 14 after the beta got released in December. This brings new features and improvements. The update is first rolling out for beta users as a minor 68MB update and should be available for everyone in the coming days.

Customisation
●  Redesigned a joint Home Screen and Lock Screen customisation page and improved the edit wallpaper flow for a more comprehensive view of options.
● New Atmosphere wallpaper effect. Transform your background photo into a dynamic wallpaper that brings motion to colours on your home screen. A seamless transition between your lock and home screens.
●  Introduced solid colour wallpapers for a cleaner Home Screen appearance.
● Added a monochrome colour theme in the basic colour section.

Glyph Interface
● Get direct access to the Glyph Interface’s Music Visualisation feature (some of you may have already discovered it).
● Improved overall Glyph light playback effect when synchronising with your device’s audio.
● Added a new Glyph animation for when NFC is being used.
● Improved the experience of Flip to Glyph.

Gesture
● Customisable double-press power button to quickly access a chosen feature. Just head to Settings > System > Gestures.
● More Lock Screen shortcut options like: Do Not Disturb, mute, QR code scanner, and video camera.
● Capture screenshots quickly with a three-finger swipe gesture.
● New screenshot editor and menu, allowing for more advanced editing features and quick deletions.
● Refreshed the back gesture arrow visual to be more in line with Nothing’s style.

Quick Settings
● Added support for switching ring modes in Quick Settings.
●  You can now directly set your network via Quick Settings without unlocking the device.
●  Updated Quick Settings layout and support to show more devices icons.

New Widgets
●  Pedometer Widget: Track your daily steps directly from your home screen. Set goals and monitor your progress to stay motivated.
● Media Player Widget: Displays the song currently playing. Control your music easily while on-the-move.

Nothing has started rolling out minor Nothing OS 2.0.4 update which is about 58MB in size. The update brings app drawer and Photo widget, and also brings several Improvements and bug fixes.

New features

● Swipe to the left side of the app drawer to access the hidden icons compartment. Apps placed here will be relocated and hidden from the app drawer.
● Introducing the Photo widget. Display your favourite photos on your home screen or lock screen.

Improvements and bug fixes

● The charging tooltip in the lock screen now more accurately reflects the charging speed.
● Fixed a rare issue causing lock screen widgets to not be displayed properly after restarting.
● The cloned instance of WhatsApp now properly supports App Locker.

Nothing has started rolling out major Nothing OS 2.0 update as promised. The update brings improved homescreen customisation, new widget design, Glyph interface 2.0, new app features and more. The update is 0.97GB in size. Check out the official list of changes below.

 Homescreen customisation:

● Update a new visual identity that feels unmistakably Nothing.
● Updated launcher grid layout, supporting the option to hide icon labels.
●  More options for customisable folders, try out different layouts and folder covers by expanding the folder.

Nothing widgets:

● Updated the design for the following widgets -Clock , Weather, Quick Look. Also introduced the new quick settings widgets allowing you to access settings even quicker.
● Widgets are now also available on lockscreen and AOD.

Glyph Interface 2.0:

● Essential notifications - allow your most important apps and contacts to leave a persistent Glyph, so you know at a glance if you have any important missed notifications.
● Glyph torch - Long press the Torch Quick Settings tile to light up the entire Glyph Interface.

New Apps features:

● Introduced Cloned app - allowing you to operate multiple accounts in apps without having to log out.
● Introduced App Locker - protect your apps by requiring another unlock when attempting to open.

Nothing has started rolling out minor Nothing OS 1.5.5 update which is about 114MB in size. The update brings RAM expansion, Face unlock improvements, reduces Bluetooth power consumption and more. Check out the official list of changes.

 What's new:

● Improved the performance of Face Unlock by improving the recognition accuracy in dark environments 
● Implemented RAM Expansion, allowing for the number of apps to remain open in the background to increase by 10% 
● Reduced Bluetooth power consumption when device is on standby at night time 

Bug fixes: 

●  Fixed an issue causing adaptive brightness to be occasionally turned off automatically.
● Fixed a rare issue preventing photos from being taken.

Nothing has started rolling out minor Nothing OS 1.5.4 update which is about 119MB in size. The update brings smoother performance and improved battery life. There is also an optimised brand font for the Cyrillic alphabet developed by Nothing community member Kasia Meyer. Check out the official list of changes.

● Reduced standby power consumption by optimising 4G / 5G network switching function

Nothing has started rolling out minor Nothing OS 1.5.3 update which is about 91MB in size. The update brings faster app loading speeds, improved battery life as well as several bug fixes. It will reach everyone in a couple of days, said the company. Check out the official list of changes.

Nothing has started taking registrations for Nothing OS 1.5 Android 13 beta registrations. The open beta update will roll out starting from mid-December.

Carl Pei has announced that Nothing Phone (1) Android 13 Closed Beta testing will commence today. Nothing Phone (1) NothingOS 1.5 Open Beta will be released in two weeks.
