OnePlus Nord CE 2 Unboxing and First Impressions


OnePlus launched Nord CE 2 5G, the company’s latest Nord CE series phone, today. This retains the same FHD+ Fluid AMOLED 90Hz screen, similar camera setup and the same 4500mAh battery, but this replaces the Snapdragon 750G with Dimensity 900 and also comes with 65W fast charging compared to 30W in the predecessor.

It features a 6.43-inch (1080 x 2400 pixels) Full HD+ 410 ppi 20:9 Fluid AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the Nord CE 2 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC with support for 8 5G bands compared to just 1 band in the predecessor.

There is a single 16MP front camera with Sony IMX471 sensor inside the tiny punch-hole, same as the predecessor. There is an earpiece on the top.

The phone has an is an in-display fingerprint scanner which is quick to unlock the phone. The phone runs Android 11 with OxygenOS 11 on top, and the company has promised 2 Android OS updates and 3 years of security updates for the phone. The company says that it will get Android 12 update in the second half of 2022.

Coming to button placements, the power button is present on the right. Dual SIM slot with a dedicated microSD slot and the volume rockers are present on the left. The secondary microphone is present on the top. The 3.5mm audio jack, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom.

The phone has triple rear cameras that include a 64MP main camera with the same Omnivision sensor,  f/1.79 aperture, EIS, 8MP 119° ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture. It supports 4K video recording at 30fps. Check out some camera samples.

Even though the front side looks similar to the first Nord CE, the Nord CE 2 5G has a different rear design that has a glossy finish. The phone is just 7.8mm thick, making it the thinnest OnePlus phone since the 6T. The Bahama Blue version is smooth with a gradient finish that chances from blue and yellow when light hits it. The phone also comes in Gray Mirror that has a mirror-like finish.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G starts at Rs. 23,999 for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version, which is Rs. 1000 more than the predecessor. It will be available from OnePlus.in, OnePlus Store App, Amazon.in, OnePlus experience stores as well as authorized partner outlets starting from February 22nd.
