TECNO announces Sensor Shift stabilization and Memory Fusion tech; to release concept Phone with telescopic lens in Q1 2022

At the Global Mobile Camera Trends 2022: Innovation Talk, TECNO revealed its Sensor Shift technology, which will improve stability in photos and video imaging in Android smartphones.

In addition, TECNO said that cameras in its future phones in 2022 will be powered by a self-developed RGBW sub-pixel rendering algorithm that increases the light captured by the CMOS sensor by 60%. Light intake will be further enhanced by 30% thanks to the G+P (glass + plastic) lens technology, resulting in an overall 200% increase and bringing a revolutionary low-light imaging experience to consumers.

First Android phone to integrate Sensor Shift

TECNO also plans to release its Sensor Shift technology in 2022, which the company says will be the the first phone brand in Android system to do so. Sensor Shift is an image stabilization technology that uses sensor movements instead of lens movements to compensate for vibrations. In the future, the control accuracy of TECNO’s Sensor Shift will reach 350% of the current level with further algorithm optimization, says the company.

Concept Phone with a telescopic lens in Q1 2022

The telescopic lens has the advantage of large aperture and continuous lossless zoom for better quality for profile and telephoto images, as well as its multi-purpose functionality. Moreover, compressed back focal length (BFL) design with motorized stretchable lenses will significantly reduce the thickness of the phone, integrating consumer’ demands for simple appearance and high performance.

TECNO’s concept phone with a telescopic lens will will launch in Q1 2022.

Li Jiangtao, Senior Director of TECNO Imaging Product and Head of TAIVOS Lab, said:

Leading edge cameras is one of the pillars supporting TECNO’s success in global emerging markets. With ‘Stop at Nothing’ as our brand spirit, our team at TECNO Image Technology is continuously innovating to achieve breakthroughs in mobile imaging technologies. Looking ahead, TECNO continues to strive for excellence in AI-enhanced algorithms and software, as well as hardware specifications, to deliver cutting-edge imaging performance.

TECNO Memory Fusion Technology to Boost RAM and Apps Running Efficiency

The new virtual RAM expansion technology is used in phones to increase the RAM capacity of their smartphones for optimal efficiency and processing power. TECNO is bringing this as  Memory Fusion Technology was designed to make use of unused read-only memory (ROM) and channel them for RAM operations.

With Memory Fusion, for example, a typical 8GB smartphone can be optimized with an enlarged onboard RAM of up to 13GB. By allocating more storage to RAM, the Memory Fusion Technology enhances a device’s multi-tasking capacity, allows for seamless switching between applications that are running concurrently in the background, and stabilizes the phone’s systems for more sustainable performance and longer battery life.

Compared to a phone without Memory Fusion, TECNO says that a phone equipped with the technology allows for an increased number of active applications running in the background, a more time-efficient warm reboot process, and a shorter load time for frequently and recently used applications. Specifically, on TECNO’s 8GB RAM phones which allow for up to 5GB increase of RAM, devices saw an 81% (up to 20 apps) increase in actively running applications, a 122% increase in warm reboot speed, and a 61% improvement in the time it takes to load frequently used applications.

Memory Fusion can be enabled from the setting and can be set to preferred expansion capacity. Expansion of RAM storage capacity varies across different models. TECNO’s Memory Fusion Technology allows expansion of up to 5GB.

Memory Fusion Technology will be available to CAMON 18 series and SPARK 8 series from December 2021 after a software update.
