Lava Agni 5G Unboxing and First Impressions


Lava launched the Agni 5G, the company’s first 5G smartphone in India. The smartphone features a 6.78-inch FHD+ 90Hz LCD screen, is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC and has 8GB. We got hold of the phone, and here is our unboxing.

The Lava Agni 5G has a 6.78-inch Full HD+ LCD punch-hole screen with a pixel resolution of 2460 × 1080 pixels 2.5D curved glass screen with gentle rounded corners. The display is bright, and the sunlight legibility is good as well. It has 90Hz refresh rate, but you need to go to intelligent assistance option in settings and enable high-speed refresh option.

The phone doesn’t have Widevine L1 certification, and only has Widevine L3 certification, so it only supports SD video playback in streaming sites, but you can play videos up to 1440p on YouTube. The company has confirmed to us that it will get Widevine L1 support in an update in the future. Netflix doesn’t show up on Google Play search, so you have to install the APK manually. Hope the company fixes this as well in the update.

It has the punch-hole that houses a 16-megapixel camera. The proximity and ambient light sensors are also present. The earpiece is present on the top edge. Powered by Dimensity 810 6nm SoC with 8GB of RAM, the performance is good. The phone runs Android 11 with October Android security patch. The company did not reveal Android 12 update plans.

Coming to the button placements, the power button which includes the fingerprint scanner is present on the right side. The hybrid dual SIM slot is on the left, which accepts two nano SIMs or a nano SIM and a microSD card up to 256GB. The same side also has the volume rockers. The 3.5 mm audio jack, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. Audio from the mono speakers are decent. The secondary microphone is on the top.

The phone features a 64-megapixel main camera with f/1.79 aperture, 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera, 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel portrait camera with f/2.4 aperture. It supports up to 2K 30 fps video recording for the back camera and 108030fps video recording for the front camera. Check out some camera samples below.

Coming to the design, the phone has a plastic body with a smooth matte finish on the back which changes colours when the light is reflected at certain angles. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging.

Priced at Rs. 19,999, it is available across retails outlets, lavamobiles.com and through Amazon & Flipkart from today 18th November. Those who pre-ordered the phone can get it at an offer price of Rs. 17999.
