Samsung Health introduces Group Challenge Feature to encourage fitness among users

Samsung has announced a new feature in its Health app called Group Challenge. It allows the creation of a fitness-focused group of up to 10 people with the aim of promoting healthy competition to see who moves the furthest or the fastest in the group.

Within the “Together” section of the Samsung Health app, users can create a group and add up to 9 friends to join, even if they aren’t existing Samsung Health users. Once the group has been created, challenges can be created such as who can take the most steps in a set amount of time; or who can be the first to reach a certain number of steps.

When it comes to fitness and health, setting challenges and a bit friendly competition can be a big motivational factor among users. According to their own research, Samsung observed that their users walk nearly 22% more when compared to users who didn’t use the challenges features. With Group challenges, users will be able to further motivate themselves to reach their goals.

The Group challenges feature will be coming to the Samsung Health app from January 12th, 2021 onwards. Users will be required to update their app to the latest version to have the feature enabled.
