iQOO Z1 5G with 144Hz display, MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ to be announced on May 19 [Update: 4500mAh battery, 44W fast charging]


Update – May 14, 2020: iQOO has shared another image of the phone that confirms punch-hole LCD screen, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom along with loudspeaker grill. It has also confirmed 4500mAh battery with support for 44W fast charging.

Update – May 13, 2020: iQOO has shared the official image that shows the back of the Z1 5G with triple rear cameras and a gradient back. According to a rumor, the phone is said to be priced at 2498 yuan (US$ 352 / Rs. 26,530 approx.) for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version.

Earlier – May 11, 2020: Vivo’s iQOO brand just confirmed that it will introduce iQOO Z1 5G in China on May 19th. It will be the first phone to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC that was announced last week. This will also be the first iQOO phone to be powered by a MediaTek SoC since all their previous phone were powered by Snapdragon SoCs.

iQOO also confirmed 144Hz refresh rate punch-hole screen. It will also come with support for 44W fast charging. Some reports say that Vivo might discontinue its Z series phones and replace since the iQOO has started launching the phones.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC has HyperEngine 2.0 support, which optimizes the smartphone for a more fluid and immersive gaming experience. It incorporates MediaTek’s latest MiraVision technologies to enhance the picture quality of 4K videos and streams in real time. It also has built-in 5G modem with Carrier Aggregation, dual 5G SIM, and MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave power saving technologies that dynamically adjust the modem’s power configuration and operating frequency according to network conditions and user activities to significantly save power.

The iQOO Z1 5G is said to be priced competitively. We should know more details in the coming days.
