Vivo V15 Overview – Innovative elevating selfie camera at a right price

A few days back, Vivo created a huge buzz in the Indian smartphone with 32MP Elevating selfie camera, bezel-less display and gradient colour design at an extremely affordable price by launching the Vivo V15. With this launch, V15 is one of the most Value For Money (VFM) smartphone available right now.

In India, users can get VivoV15 in three exquisite colours — Royal Blue, Frozen Black and Glamour Red. Notably, with Vivo V15 and 15 Pro, the company is making Elevating selfie and other latest technologies more accessible to the masses.

Beautiful gradient with smooth finish

The Vivo V15 comes with a beautiful gradient colour design with a smooth glossy finish, making it look premium than ever. To be honest, the Vivo V15 is the best-looking smartphone in its price range. The case which comes bundled with the phone offers good protection as well. It measures 8.54mm in thickness and weighs around 189grams.

Moving on to the display, the Vivo V15 sports a 6.53-inch FHD+ in-screen LCD with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection with a 90.95% screen-to-body ratio. The company got rid of the notch, and we feel good about it. The display is bright, the colours are vibrant and the text looks sharp. Best thing is the sunlight legibility which is good even in outdoor conditions.

The Vivo V15 comes equipped with an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P70 12nm processor (Quad 2.1GHz Cortex A73 + Quad 2GHz Cortex A53 CPUs) with 900MHz ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU under the hood. The processor backed by 6GB RAM performs almost every operation thrown at it with ease.

Super smooth performance

We tested the mobile with a lot of CPU/GPU intensive gaming, multi-tasking, streaming videos and what not. In this process, V15 passed with flying colours, meaning – no hang or lag, was super smooth.

Coming to the software, the phone runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) with Android security patch for January 2019 and Funtouch OS 9 on top. It has Jovi Smart Scene assistant when you swipe to the left showing several cards. We also like the idea that the controls are accessible at the bottom edge of this massive display.

The Vivo V15 has a 12MP (Dual Pixel) rear camera with f/1.78 aperture, 5MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture, 8MP AI 120-degree Super wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, it features a mighty 32MP camera with Samsung ISOCELL GD1 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The camera UI is simple with options on top and bottom clearly mentioned.

On the top, there is a flash toggle, HDR toggle, option to enable portrait light effect, Live Photo and Settings option. On the bottom there is Image Recogniser option, timer, Filters, portrait bokeh, ultra-wide toggle and option to switch to 19.5:9 aspect ratio from 4:3 easily. There is a preview window on the bottom left, shutter button next to it and front and rear camera toggle on the bottom right.

In our usage, the daylight images came out very well with a good amount of details. It was strikingly crisp and AI and HDR shots came out well too. Under the portrait mode, the camera also performed spectacularly with a surprising level of accuracy while blurring out the background from the subject.

Dual engine fast charging

Photos shot with 32MP selfie camera came out very well with plentiful details, punchy colours and the portrait shots were good as well. All these above-mentioned features were powered by a huge 4000mAh battery with support for Dual-Engine fast charging. It lasts for a whole day even with heavy use and with average use it lasts more than a day.

On the whole, at a price of Rs. 23,990, Vivo V15 is one of the best looking/performing smartphone available in the market right now. This camera-centric device pulls off some great pictures and this reliability factor made Vivo where it is right now. If you want an amazing camera, look no further, V15 is the best you can get. You can pre-order it from Vivo India eStore,  Amazon.inFlipkart, Paytm Mall and other online and offline stores.
