Apple iOS 12.1 to bring 70 new emojis, beta update brings eSIM support, fixes charging bug

Apple started out seeding the iOS 12.1 beta two for developers and public users who have registered. This update brings more than 70 new emoji to iPhones, group FaceTime with up to 32 and the eSIM support which still needs carrier support to function fully. Reports also suggest that the update has fixed the weird charging bug on few iPhones and iPads.

Apple is rolling out more than 70 new emojis which will be coming soon to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, including new characters with red hair, gray hair and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, and more. The update brings the much-hyped eSIM support which is a digital SIM that lets you activate a cellular plan from a carrier without needing a physical SIM.

The iOS 12.1 beta update also brings a new real-time Depth Control feature, which lets you adjust the depth of field of your Portrait Mode photos before you capture them. The current setting in iOS 12 allows only to edit the depth control after you click the photo. Tapping the F-icon at the top of the screen while capturing a photo you use Depth Control to adjust the amount of background blur in an image.

The iOS 12.1 reintroduces the Group FaceTime feature that was removed from iOS 12. Group FaceTime would let iPhone and Mac users do video and audio chats with up to 32 participants at one time. Lastly, the update also fixes the weird charging bug on few iPhones and iPads.

This bug caused the iPhones and iPads not charge automatically despite being plugged in. While this is not the issue on all iPhones and iPads, it does fix it for those who are facing the issue. The iOS 12.1 beta is now available to download for developers and public beta users.
